Statistical Consulting
We have completed contracts with clients such as the State of California, University of California,
California State University, San Diego Unified School District, Amylin Pharmaceuticals,
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Grants
We have served as principal and co-principal investigator on over 20 grants from National Science Foundation (NSF),
National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Energy (DOE), and Department of Defense (DOD).
Statistical expert
We have served on review panels for DOD, NSF, NIH, CDC, Zhejiang University in China,
National Research Council Board on climate change, and LLNL;
on editorial boards and as expert reviewers for over 20 scientific journals and research monographs.
Statistical service
We have served and chaired program and organization committees for conferences around the globe (notably the IMS New Researchers
Conference; Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM)/International Biometrics Society conference session organization) and held
numerous officer positions at the American Statistical Association (ASA), Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS),
International Biometrics Society (IBS), and International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA).
Statistical communication
We have given invited talks at over 100 Universities and research centers as well as
regularly at JSM, IBS ENAR/WNAR, ICSA, and Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA).
Statistical research
Authors of over 100 peer-reviewed publications in Statstics and scientific disciplines;
- Methods we developed:
adaptive random scan Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), multivariate survival trees, Bayesian multivariate survival trees,
empirical Bayes frailty modeling, multivariate survival analysis dependence measures.
- Significant application areas: cancer epidemiology, AIDS, diabetes, glaucoma, microarray analysis,
influenza vaccinations, climate change, weather forecasting, recitivism, ecological monitoring,
genetic and environmental interactions, sports.
